Dr. Hanser enjoys seeing children in her practice. She recommends starting dental visits at two years of age.

While the State of Illinois only requires dental exams for those children entering kindergarten, second, sixth and ninth grades, Dr. Hanser recommends children be seen every six months. This allows early diagnosis of cavities or other dental needs.

Sealants

Sealants are protective barriers to defend the chewing services of molars from plaque and acids that can cause decay and cavities. Sealants involve a painless application of a material to the surface of the tooth.

A typical sealant usually lasts several years, and at each regular dental exam, Dr. Hanser will be able to determine whether or not they need to be replaced.

While young children and teenagers are the most common candidates for sealants because the risk of decay begins early, adults can benefit from sealants as well.

Kids No Cavity Club

Kids 12 and under who are cavity-free at their regular cleaning appointment will join the Kids No Cavity Club. These kids will be entered into drawing for a $20 gift card for the month that they are cavity-free.
